Internet video has shifted programming into the hands of Web users instead of television viewers. Internet Video / Internet TV - or iTV for short - is wide open, it is global, and in true 'Web 2.0' spirit it is a direct-to-consumer opportunity. Obviosuly "Internet video" can refer to streaming video from realtime broadcasts, streaming archival material or downloading video files for watching later, all of which are viewed on the computer. Does it also refer to watching movies and other TV programs on a regular TV set that are coming from the Internet rather than over the air or from cable and satellite companies?

Metacafe will pay you $5 for every thousand views your video gets on their site. Payment starts when your video reaches 20,000 views and has a rating of 3.00 or higher which is an indication of the video's popularity.

Do the major broadcasters really see Internet video as "TV on the Web"?

Mark Cuban recently wrote: Riddle me this: If the Internet is the ultimate DVR for video, will advertisers put comparable pricing parameters on internet video that they are trying to put on TV DVR commercial viewing ?

If they do, and only pay for videos viewed within 3 days of the video being posted, won't that put a huge crimp in the internet video business?

Advertisers have growing leverage. It will be interesting to see how they use it.

In SF they believe the city could use the Internet as a type of virtual town hall, allowing San Francisco residents to debate via Internet Video
