ISLANDIA, N.Y., May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Associates International, Inc. today announced the general availability of eTrust SiteMinder Secure Proxy Server (eTrust SiteMinder SPS) r6, a feature-rich, high-performance proxy gateway that centrally manages access to back-end web content.
eTrust SiteMinder SPS enables IT organizations to significantly lower administration costs and more effectively secure their Internet-facing servers, while ensuring that users are provided with role-appropriate access to online resources. It complements eTrust SiteMinder, the industry's leading Web access management solution, to ensure the integrity of network Demilitarized Zones (DMZs) and the centralization of security policies. It also enables IT to manage access to hosted applications remotely.
Enhancements in eTrust SiteMinder SPS r6 include WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning) support, which empowers systems administrators to securely edit and manage files on remote web servers. The new version also supports a wider range of platforms and a variety of authentication schemes, including two-factor tokens.
"eTrust SiteMinder Secure Proxy Server is an important component of Toyota Technical Center (U.S.A.)'s overall network and application security," said Kevin Purdy, TTC's IT General Manager. "And the version 6.0 enhancements allow TTC to protect even more of our resources with the Secure Proxy Server."
eTrust SiteMinder SPS delivers: * Web access security - By providing access via a proxy server, non- authenticated users are prevented from entering the DMZ and the corporate network topology is hidden from external users. * Support for a wide range of technology users - Broad client support enables IT to manage access for both wired and wireless users in a common manner. * Lower administrative costs - By providing a single point-of-entry into the corporate network, eTrust SiteMinder SPS r6 simplifies administration and reduces operating costs.
eTrust SiteMinder SPS operates in the DMZ between firewalls, separating Internet users and back-end resources. It supports multiple session schemes, including cookies, SSL session IDs, device IDs, IP addresses, and URL re-writing. Proxy rules control the flow of requests to destination servers based on specific request parameters, including URI query string, host name, and HTTP headers.
eTrust SiteMinder SPS complements the eTrust SiteMinder Web Agents deployment model. Customers can deploy these solutions individually or together to provide a flexible and secure Web access architecture.
"As web-based business systems continue to proliferate across the enterprise, IT organizations are desperately seeking ways to optimize their control of these systems while radically reducing their administration costs," said Bill Bartow, senior vice president of eTrust Identity and Access Management at CA. "CA's eTrust SiteMinder SPS directly addresses this need by providing the industry's most intuitive centralized solution for managing and securing distributed web resources."
