VMware has started certifying thin clients used with its Virtual Desktop Infrastructure aimed at replacing conventional PCs with virtual machines centralized in the data center and available to users from any device, reducing TCO, increasing IT’s control and improving security as well as increasing desktop lifecycle and reducing energy consumption. VMware says it can improve the user’s experience and productivity and promises a consistent experience on multiple platforms including HP, Sun, Wyse, NEC, Fujitsu Siemens and smaller brands.
Virtualization is becoming an increasingly important concept, not only to IT staffs, but to CIOs and line-of-business managers as well. It is quickly being deployed in server, storage, networking, as well as client environments.
"Deploying Virtualization in the Enterprise" is the conference theme of SYS-CON's 5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo EUROPE (www.Virtualization-Europe.co.uk) to be held in London, England, January 26-27, 2009. The Call for Papers, which is now open, welcomes submissions from exceptional speakers with high-quality use cases not only of how virtualization maximizes the use of resources and thus saves companies money, but also of how it is fundamentally altering the way that businesses run IT.
