LINDON, Utah, July 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The SCO Group, Inc. ("SCO") , a leading provider of UNIX(R) software technology and mobile services, today announced that Atlas Paper Company has selected SCO Mobile's new product, Mobile Order(TM) as the platform for mobilizing its order entry process on Palm(R) Treo(TM) 700w (Windows Mobile(TM)) smart phones. Mobile Order is a SCO Mobile hosted solution that allows mobile access to back-end server inventory information, pricing and other data from a smart handheld device. Atlas Paper Company selected ASK Technologies, a Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania-based SCO solution provider to provide a mobile solution to streamline their order entry process.
Mobile Order extends customers' existing home-grown or third party inventory and order entry solutions to their mobile phones using patented mobile technology from SCO. The simplicity of the technology allows SCO to easily and seamlessly enable existing applications with minimal effort onto Windows Mobile(R), Palm(R) OS, or Java(R) smart phones. This saves the customer time and money by avoiding rewriting the applications to support a mobile platform. Mobile Order allows sales forces to be more effective by reducing errors in a manual, paper-based order-entry solution, provides faster order processing and allows sales representatives to visit more clients per day. This translates into a cost savings of thousands of dollars per month in order processing and customer service costs.
Atlas Paper Company, located in Woburn, Massachusetts, offers a broad range of both paper and plastic products to varied markets such as retail clothing stores, specialty stores, food chains, museums, jewelry stores, conventions and hospitals. Packaging is custom made and custom quoted. Products include high-end paper shopping bags for premier retailers. "Atlas Paper works with some of the most service-oriented retailers in the industry. They demand a high-level of vendor service. By providing our sales representatives with Mobile Order, they can immediately access the customers discount level, order history, and create the order and send it in a matter of minutes from the palm of their hand," said David E. Cohen, president of Atlas Paper Company. "Customers get what they want, when they want it - faster. Atlas and Mobile Order improves performance and reduces order errors."
ASK Technologies provides cutting-edge, practical business solutions to numerous businesses across the nation. ASK specializes in providing the ability to transform current technology into productivity for every business they serve, whether it is a startup or Fortune 500. "We chose the highly innovative SCO Mobile Order technology because it provides a complete end-to- end mobile solution for our clients," said Stephen Pirolli, managing partner, ASK Technologies. "Using Mobile Order, SCO was able to mobilize our customer's existing application in a minimal amount of time. Customers can now quickly upload their catalog of thousands of items and make them accessible on a handheld device. SCO's Mobile Order greatly simplifies the order entry process and helps my customers expedite orders quickly and accurately using their mobile smart phones."
"We are pleased to be chosen by ASK Technologies as the organization to implement these important mobile solutions," said Darl McBride, president and CEO, The SCO Group. "Mobile Order provides a secure and rich user experience for mobile sales reps. Using Mobile Order, the sales representatives can walk out of a customer meeting knowing that their order is already being processed."
"The retail market represents a high-growth potential for SCO's Mobile Order," said Sandy Gupta, general manager and chief technology officer, The SCO Group. "SCO has a long established presence and experience in this industry and is very familiar with the needs and demands of the retail market.
