Bret Taylor on how AJAX has revolutionized the behavior of Web applications

"AJAX has revolutionized our expectations of the behavior of Web applications," declared Bret Taylor, who in February 2005 launched Google Maps and Google Local, and before that worked on Google's crawling and indexing infrastructure. "AJAX has also changed the way we think about APIs," he added.

Taylor (pictured) was on great form in the Grand Ballroom of The Roosevelt Hotel, where AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East opened yesterday to a record turnout of over 900 developers, architects, IT managers, CxOs, analysts, VCs, and business/technology journalists, bloggers and commentators.


Taylor joined Google in early 2003 since when he has been responsible for over 25 product launches, including Google Maps, the Google Maps API, and Google Local. Prior to Google, Taylor worked as a software engineer at Reactivity, a startup incubator in Silicon Valley. He holds an MS and BS in Computer Science from Stanford University.
