TheStreet (Nasdaq: TST (TheStreet)), a leading digital financial media company, announced today that its editorial team earned four awards as part of the 16th annual Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ Best in Business competition. TheStreet’s editorial team was recognized for excellence in the “Online” category in the following classes
- Creative Use Across Multiple Platforms
- Investigative
- Feature
- Opinion/Column
TheStreet CEO Daryl Otte commented, “TheStreet stands for unique, actionable analysis, and independent journalism, and the SABEW awards are an acknowledgement of the increasing returns that we believe will continue to flow from the investments we have made in our editorial and technology. We have evolved into a truly dynamic multimedia organization that integrates video and interactive features into our written content that not only positions us as a leader in the financial and business media vertical, but also serves as the template for where the industry is headed.”
TheStreet Editor-in-Chief Glenn Hall said, “We are proud to be recognized for the quality and originality of our coverage, which we have always considered our hallmark. As the recent Google algorithm change to favor legitimate news coverage shows, credible and insightful reporting remains in strong demand. Amid all the upheaval in the media industry today, TheStreet has been expanding to fill the void and ensure investors and consumers are getting the information they need. It is rewarding to be recognized by SABEW for our efforts.”
TheStreet received the “Creative Use Across Multiple Platforms” and the “Investigative” awards for The Shanghai Numbers, its special investigation into Chinese stocks and the SEC’s probe into fraud conspiracies that brought Chinese companies to U.S. markets through a back-door process known as the reverse takeover. Reporters Scott Eden and Rob Holmes led the investigation and TheStreet’s multimedia team of Kevin LeVick, Meredith Longo and Joel Regus, lead by Deputy Managing Editor Art Lenehan, made the visual presentation and multimedia experience tremendously engaging.
Scott Eden’s coverage of the growing problem of piracy in a package called The Pirates’ Toll: High Stakes on the High Seas, earned the “Feature” award.
Rounding out TheStreet’s awards was Adam Feuerstein whose columns about the Biotech industry won the “Opinion/Column” award.
