I just read SYS-CON's response to the recent attacks in Fuat Kircaali's Social Media Terrorists blog entry. I realized the email quoted at the end of Kircaali's blog was also copied to Ted Weissman of Lois Paul & Partners, a public relations firm with clients in technology. If this email was sent to SYS-CON based on Weissman's advice to his client, then, in my humble opinion, Ted Weissman and his firm are not qualified to operate as a PR agency to serve technology markets and provide advice to any technology client until they sort out their facts from the Twitter mob fiction. After reading Kircaali's response, it sounds like this pr man is getting his news from Twitter feeds of Al Jazeera instead of reading the facts in a magazine such as Forbes before advising his clients about the "documented questionable business practices" of one of the most respected tech media companies in the world. My question is "Is this man in the business of providing public relations or creating public relations disasters for his clients?"

Sony apparently has cloud intentions. Sony Computer Entertainment has asked the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a trademark on the term “PS Cloud.” It’s also reportedly registered the domain name “playstationcloud.com.” The broad trademark application, filed March 24 and annoyingly written in all caps, doesn’t say exactly what Sony’s got in mind for the brand but covers a wide range of cloud possibilities from “providing online video games that users may access through the Internet” to streaming music over the net, producing Internet radio programs, displaying online media such as electronic magazines, books and educational materials – and Sony does have that Kindle-like Sony Reader e-book – as well as video on-demand and e-mail. And it mentions phones a lot.

I/O Virtualization: Approaches and Applications

Xterasys Settles GPL Suit

The Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC), defender of the GPL's honor, said Monday that Xterasys Corporation, one of the companies it sued in November for not providing users with the source code to the GPL 2-protected Busybox Unix utilities as the license requires, has settled out of court. That makes two renegades brought to justice. Monsoon Multimedia, the first company SFLC sued on behalf of Busybox' creators, also settled. And a few days ago SFLC sued Verizon Communications, the phone company, for patent infringement because it's not publishing the source code for the Busybox widgetry embedded in the Actiontec router it distributes connecting customers to the Internet, TV and phone. Verizon has maybe nine million FiOS customers.
